Cooking Pizzas During The Week!

This week’s Monday Motivation is coming to you a little late!

But better late than never I say!

It’s been quite difficult to fit a daily blog post in during the school holidays, we’ve been so busy trying to keep the kids busy, and let’s face it, things just come up!

I am beginning to think that it would be extra silly of me to attempt to add much extra into my week at this stage, we’re on the countdown to Easter now and I have some serious organising to do!

The best thing that will happen to my eBay pile this week, will be that it gets stacked up neatly in my tidy up that will take place today and tomorrow.

We’re expecting visitors in the few days after Easter so I’d like the house to be clean and sorted before they arrive. So every spare moment this week between the kids, the hubby, the blog etc etc will be spent cleaning an area of the house!

Not very exciting at all but I will admit the organisation and cleaning of the house has slipped a bit in all our school holiday FUN!!!

Well, I must admit it.

I have totally failed in last weeks Monday Motivation Task.

Outdoor Fun... beats Inside Chaos!

Last week I planned to demolish a massive pile of eBay items that are clogging up an entire corner of our dining room.

Lets just say it didn’t happen. In fact, after cleaning out 2 more wardrobes, it’s safe to say that the pile has grown even bigger…. 😦

Selling on eBay is a little hobby of mine, something I do when I want some extra cash to spend, usually on the children’s clothes.

I sell their unwanted clothes, things that don’t fit anymore or things they don’t like and then purchase them their new bits and pieces.

It’s win/win really.

But I have been a combination of super busy and totally slack and thingsΒ  just havent been listed. TISK TISK…..

I am facing 3 full on months of birthdays, parties and celebrations so the extra cash could come in handy. Big time. So here’s what I am going to do…..

* Spend one afternoon this week photographing all the items and getting them ready to list.

* Schedule 3 items per evening to all start on the one future date. Not so daunting listing 3 items at a time as opposed to listing 63…..

* Buy some plastic tubs and create an organised selling system so the massive pile up of items can be contained πŸ™‚

eBay, eBay, eBay.... πŸ™‚

So wish me luck. It is the school holidays and I will most definitely be much busier than normal.

Lets hope the weather gives me a few decent days and the Monster Squad can spend some time playing outside… πŸ™‚

One box of eBay stuff ready..... Several more to go!!!

This week’s Monday Motivation is inspired by the massive pile of eBay items I have put aside to list and hopefully sell.

Since I do most of the listing on my laptop in the dining room, the mountain of stuff is definitely in the way!!!

So instead of moving it around the house I am going to leave it where it is and list it on eBay once and for all.

Goals for this week.

* List all items in the “sell on eBay” pile.

* Sort through the next big bag of stuff and get it ready to list next week.

I am leaving the goals for this week at that as they are certainly not little tasks by any stretch of the imagination.

Good Luck with your weekly tasks! I will update during the week with my listing progress. πŸ™‚

The Winter Wardrobe Makeover – Part 1! April 1, 2011

Aghmmmm….. (clear’s throat…)

I am a clothes-a-holic! I love them. I love them for me, I love them for the kids, I love them for the hubby, hey I even love them for my mum. I can’t help it, I’ve tried to kick the addiction and it is impossible. I must buy clothes!!! Hahahaha πŸ™‚

Over the last 2 years I have behaved myself quite well. I have used my noggin and bargain shopped when needed, recycled outfits and passed on hand me downs.

But for a clothes addict like myself, seeing the same outfits come through the wash time and time again, for this amount of time was just plain PAINFUL!!!!! Something had to be done.

My new purple beads.

So I decided that it was time to revamp our winter clothes. I think it’s fair to say that the clothes we have now have seen their day, given us good mileage and most probably could do with a rest…..

Some of the girls clothes have been around since Aria was a weeny beeny, survived Zafirah’s messy antics and have simply been outgrown by little miss Veruca.

So with a minimal budget I set off to find some bargains and get us back into a fresh new look wardrobe for the cooler seasons.

First stop: The local op-shops.

You’ll be amazed at what you will find in these fantastic places. Keeping in mind that I only purchase things that are in top condition and relatively current in the fashion stakes. After a morning of scrumaging through racks and racks of clothes I had come out with 3 or 4 bags full of excellent quality clothing, all for around $30.00 πŸ™‚ BARGAIN!!!

Some of our BARGAINS!

Some of the items were:

* A new pair of Jeans for Brian.

* A Fred Bare designer denim dress & pink top for Veruca.

* Toy Story Winter Pyjamas for Levi.

*Brand new Pink ruffle top (still available in target) for Zafirah.

*Pumpkin Patch beanies.

and a Paul Frank Wallet for me – cost me $0.50. πŸ™‚

Rito, Next stop…. K-Mart.

Well I must say I was fairly impressed with the prices in Kmart. It’s been a while since we’ve been shopping there and we noticed a massive difference in the clothing prices instantly. The girls clothes were pretty and I thought they had enough variety. I was also really happy with their shoe prices.

Some of the girls clothes!

Our kids go through shoes like crazy so when I pay as little as $8.00 for a pair I really don’t care if they only last 6 months. I was especially impressed with the school shoes I picked up for Jai for a minimal $2.50. Now that’s what I call budget shopping!

So I loaded the trolley up with an outfit for each of the girls with a few extras like leggings, a dress, 3/4 pants, a ballet leotard & jumper and a pair of shoes each. I also snuck in a beautiful top, a pair of trackies and 2 singlet tops for me. Jai got a look in with a cool green top aswell.

Dreading the checkout Brian reluctantly piled the items on the counter only to be surprised with the somewhat minimal final value. All of that for well under $200.00. More money well spent! πŸ™‚

Pit Stop 3 – Sale Racks!!!

Ok, so Autograph had some sale racks out the front or their store. After some more rummaging I came out with a pair of cargo pants, a dress for me, a dress for mum, a beautiful pyjama set and some awesome beads.

Yep… That sounds expensive… Let me add up the tags….. Ok the tags add up to a total of …. $289.95 OMG. What did I pay for these gorgeous items???? A measly $49.95!!! WOOT WOOT!! That’s a massive saving of $240.00. πŸ™‚

So after my excitement about the new clothes, we stopped the shopping briefly for some lunch before we headed over to Big W.

Stop #4 – Big W

Jai and Levi's Stuff!

I must say I was most disappointed in the clothes and shoes at Big W. It certainly wasn’t what it used to be. I did however find a great bra for under $20.00, some decent jocks for Jai and Brian found a nice T-shirt for $10.

Jai and Levi also got a pretty awesome t-shirt each aswell. Can’t complain too bad I suppose after the massive savings in the last shop! I’d mainly recommend Big W for essentials like underwear when you’re clothes shopping.

Stop #5 – The Surf/Skate Shop

Along with my clothing addiction comes the dangerous shoe fetish. My all time favourite shoes would have to be skate runners though. I cannot find anything that even comes close to the comfort of these type of shoes and let me tell you, it has been a good 6 years since I have owned a pair. So I entered the store and headed straight to the back wall. Skate shoe heaven…. πŸ™‚

Oh Skate Shoes... I Love you!!!!

I chose out a pair I fancied and they even had my size in stock!!! (I have tiny feet, don’t tell anyone…..) Ahhhh Bliss. So much to the hubby’s disgust I graciously parted with my $70.00 knowing that these shoes would be like a new member of my family… and I was pleased as punch Id chosen the ones reduced from $110.00. Nice… another saving of $40.00.

Stop #6 – The Optus Shop.

While we were out Brian wanted to pop into the mobile phone shop and find out when our contracts expired so we could update our old phones. Turns out we were eligible for an early upgrade and for the grand cost of $0.00…. we both walked out of the store with our new iPhone 4’s….. πŸ™‚ Super happy dance!

Awesome iPhone 4.

Last stop – Target.

I love Target. They’re fantastic for their sale racks and reduced items. Today Brian found himself a pair of slip on shoes for $12!!! We also got Jai a couple of pairs of shoes for $10.00 each. YEY!!!

So that was the end of my shopping expedition to update our winter wardrobes. I had spent a day in shopping heaven and loved every minute of it.

Stay tuned for Part 2.

In the next few days I will be going through each wardrobe in the house, organising outfits and essentials and culling a whole heap of worn out clothes. πŸ™‚

One of my Digital Scrapbooking Pages from last weeks List!

Argh it’s Monday again!!!

I have been so super busy this past week, that I didn’t quite achieve all of the things on last Monday’s list. That’s OK because I will just put them on this weeks list along with a few other jobs I’d like to catch up on!

So here’s what I would like to achieve on top of the regular jobs this week.

* Clean off the Verandah.

* Decide on a Scrapbook Project and get it underway.

* 5 Common Chaos Chronicle Blog Posts.

* Go shopping for Winter Clothes.

I’m not going to go over the top with extras this week as each task is almost a day in itself! I can but try! πŸ™‚

But for now, I’m off to put some kiddies to bed!

How do I store my………… LEGO??? March 25, 2011

Our bubble car!

Today I am going to share with you my Lego storage system. If you have read my introduction to Jai post you would be well aware that this child is obsessed with Lego. You name it, he want’s to build it and he want’s my help.

A crazy police truck creation!

My frustration with the Lego came about when we had it stored in a large storage tub. Everything was jumbled up and mixed in together, making even the simplest build project difficult and time consuming.

To top it off, often the only way to find the piece you were looking for is to upturn the entire tub spreading lego from one end of the room to the other.

I do love the old spread a bed sheet out on the floor and go for your life method but it is far from suitable in this house.

With a baby on the loose I had to come up with something that made playing with Lego safe, but also allowed me to be involved in a much

The Stopper Cabinet Storage System!

faster fashion. Long gone were the hours of just sitting down and fiddling with the blocks. I had some serious time constraints to consider!

I went to a shop called STORE, where I came across these totally fabulous storage systems. Wait…. it gets better….. They were reduced to half price!!! LOVE A BARGAIN!

Anyway, These systems were located in the Automotive / Garage area of the shop. I am assuming that they are designed to be filled with nails, screws and that type of thing but they certainly do the Lego trick!

It even has top trays for tiny bits and pieces!

So I sat down one evening and started sorting. I knew ifΒ Β  things were colour coordinated

and if similar things were placed together it would save me hours of time when building with Jai.

Jai's Lego all sorted into the drawer compartments!

The best thing about this system is that the drawers have a stopper pull bit on them that stops the drawers from sliding open when you’re carrying them around. Great thinking if you ask me!!!

Similar systems can be found in shops like Supercheap Auto and some Hardware chain stores.

Jai LOVES it!

If the Lego in your house gives you a hard time (nothing quite like stomping on a sharp block in during a pitch black midnight dash to the toilet :-0 ), give this storage and sorting method a try!

And now….. Im off to build!!!

The Horrors of Housework…. March 24, 2011

Any parent reading this will understand what I am about to say.

And the kids thought I was joking..... The Skip Bin We Hired For The Clean Up!

Housework is horrible. Even if you’re not a parent it’s still horrible…..

The sad part is, it is very much a part of everyday life. For me, a rather large part of my everyday life.Β  Without a somewhat clean and organised environment our house turns into chaos almost instantly.

I would be a liar if I suggested that there were any kind of end to the situation. It really does NEVER end but I am beginning to see the light at the end of that daunting dark tunnel.

A while ago I devised a plan in my mind. It sat there for a few days being edited and revised by my brain and this is the theory I came up with.

Our house was a mess. We needed a massive, all over total clean out. So that’s exactly what we did.

If it was broken it went in the bin.

If it was unused it went to the Op-Shops.

If it could be sold on eBay I listed it.

We even hired a big skip bin, and one room at a time we declutted, removed the junk and cleaned anything that needed a clean.

At last the house was a junk free, tidy and organised place to be!

It wasn’t going to keep itself this way for long and I was certainly sick and tired of spending every waking moment of my day cleaning, so I made up a chart for myself.

I figured, if the house was totally clean to start with, and I maintained the daily jobs plus one room/area of the house per day, with the help of my family and in conjunction with the kid’s weekly chores, we should be able to keep it relatively tidy…

The thought of cleaning an entire house from scratch each day frightens the life out of me but breaking it down into daily chores is certainly much more achievable….So here goes…

Monday: Make the Beds, 2 Loads of Washing, The Dishes, Clean & Tidy the Dining/Kitchen Area.

Tuesday: Make the Beds, 2 Loads of Washing, The Dishes, Clean the Hallway & Zaf & Veruca’s Room.

Wednesday: Make the Beds, 2 Loads of Washing, The Dishes, Clean the Bathroom/Toilet & Laundry Areas.

Thursday: Make the Beds, 2 Loads of Washing, The Dishes, Clean Our Bedroom and Jai & Levi’s Bedroom.

Friday: Make the Beds, 2 Loads of Washing, The Dishes, Clean the Lounge Room & Aria’s Bedroom.

Saturday: Make the Beds, 2 Loads of Washing, The Dishes, Complete any unfinished cleaning around the yard.

Sunday: Make the Beds, 2 Loads of Washing, The Dishes, Quick family up around the whole house.

My Totally Tidy Bedroom!

So for the past few weeks I have been trialing this method and it seems to be working. The house is tidy and I am not spending all day achieving it.

A tidy environment to live in + more time to spend doing things I actually enjoy!
